Iran calls PGCC claims over Iranian islands at current time ‘suspicious’
Tehran Times Political Desk
TEHRAN – As the “savage crimes” of the Zionist regime against the people of the Gaza Strip have reached its height the latest ownership claims over of the three Iranian Islands by the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council seem “suspicious”, the Iranian Foreign Ministry announced on Wednesday.
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hassan Qashghavi said the three islands of Greater and Lesser Tunbs and Abu Mousa are an eternal part of Iran's territory.
In the current juncture when the people of Palestine have come under relentless attack “unity” among Muslim states is “more essential” than ever before, he pointed out.
He called on the PGCC member states to abandon “old and ineffective” policies.
Qashghavi also welcomed Qatar’s proposal to maintain efforts to expand cooperation in the Persian Gulf region
