Iran to release Iranian-American journalist Roxana Saberi ‘soon’
A senior Iranian judiciary official says Roxana Saberi, a freelance Iranian-American journalist held in detention, will be released soon.
“The investigation has been carried out and she will be released within a few days,” Hassan Haddad, a deputy to Tehran’s prosecutor, told ISNA news agency on Friday.
Roxana Saberi, 31, was arrested more than a month ago for working “illegally” as a journalist after her press card was revoked in 2006.
She has reported for the BBC, NPR, and Fox News during her six-year stay in Iran.
Haddad’s remarks came a day after U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton urged Iran to release Saberi and help her return to her family in North Dakota.
