$3.9m Worth of Electronics Products Exported

TEHRAN - Iran exported some $3.9 million worth of electronics and electrical products last Iranian calendar year (Ending March 20 1998), it was announced here yesterday. Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the Fifth International Exhibition of Electricity and Electronics, Minister of Industries, Gholam-Reza Shafeie, said the above adding that presently there are some 1,018 producing units active in the country in the field of electricity and electronics with a capital investment of nearly Rls.900 billion.

He said that there are 15 project which are being carried out in the country in the field of electricity and electronics with a total investment of nearly Rls.300 billion plus $80 million. The projects has brought about four thousands job opportunities. Also speaking at the exhibition was Deputy Commerce Minister and the Head of Export Promotion Center of Iran, Mojtaba Khosrow Taj. He told that the important aspect of boosting production and export of electronics products is that it can help development of the other industries in the country.

He said that the fifth exhibition is being held by participation of some 250 companies from Iran as well those form Germany, France, England, Taiwan, United Arab Emirates, China, South Korea, Italy, Canada, the Netherlands, Sweden, Singapore, Japan and Slovania. The exhibition which is being held at the Permanent Grounds of Tehran International Trade Fair on a 17.9-thousand square meter area runs through May 1.
