Quake Hits Southern Japanese Islands

TOKYO An earthquake, measuring 5.0 on the Richter scale, jolted the southern Japanese islands on Saturday, the meteorological agency said. There were no reports of casualties or damage, local police said. The quake struck at 2:37 p.m. (0537 GMT) some 40 kilometers (25 miles) northwest of Yonaguni Island, Okinawa prefecture, the agency said. (AFP)
