People Invited to Participate in May 23 Ceremony

TEHRAN Majma-e Ruhanyoun-e Mobarez (the society of combatant ulema) in a statement issued here Tuesday invited the nation to participate in special ceremonies on the first anniversary of May 23 presidential elections. The statement also urged the people to take advantage of the occasion and renew their allegiance to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, President Mohammad Khatami and other committed officials of the Islamic Republic. May 23 is the reminder of the magnificient presence of the nation in the scene of defending the Islamic Republic system and is the symbol of massive support of the nation for the unique heritage of the revolution, the statement added.

Political and cultural maturity of the Iranian nation, a nation with experience of eight years of Sacred Defense and eight years of construction, reached its peak on May 23. The nation surprised the world with its unprecedented turnout in the presidential elections and voted for civil society, it stressed.
