MASHHAD - The visiting Speaker of the Malaysian Parliament, Tansri Mohammad Zahir Haji Ismael, said here on Thursday that the Islamic Republic of Iran as the greatest country in the region enjoys a satisfactory political and economic stability. Before his departure from Mashhad, far northeastern Iran, he said to IRNA that Malaysia tries to enhance the current level of its joint investments with the Islamic Republic of Iran. Iran and Malaysia as two brother and Muslim countries could establish a good economic cooperation, he said.

Malaysia has defied the economic sanctions as well as unjust positions adopted by the U.S against the Islamic Republic of Iran and has endeavoured to expand its relation with Iran. Tehran-Kuala Lumpur air link is to resum flights in the near future, he pointed out. The Malaysian official also met on Wednesday afternoon with Khorasan's Governor General Mohsen Mehr Alizadeh who expressed hope that with formation of Iran and Malaysia Parliamentary Freindship Group the two countries' cooperation would enhance further than before.

Alizadeh in return said that his province through which the ancient and famous trade route of silk road passed could be a good economic partner for Malaysia. During his two-day visit to Mashhad, the Malaysian Parliament Speaker paid visit to the Holy Shrine of Imam Reza (AS) and also visited economic and cultural activities in the city. Haji Ismael left Mashhad here on Sunday for Isfahan, Central Iran. (IRNA)
