TEHRAN Both Iranian and Saudi officials hail Riyadh- Tehran relations, expressing hope for further improvement of bilateral ties in the future. Saudi Minister in charge of Islamic Affairs Dr. Abdullah Abdul Mohsen al-Turkey in an interview with the TEHRAN TIMES said, The existing cordial bilateral ties are in the interest of Iran and Saudi Arabia and will bring stability and peace to the r Al-Turkey, heading a four-member delegation arrived here yesterday and was received by Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Seyed Ataollah Mohajerani, Hojjatoleslam Ali Taskhiri and several officials of the Islamic Republic. He arrived here to attend the 12th Session of the Committee on Coordination of Joint Islamic Action (CCJIA) which is to start today and will end on Monday. I'm really happy that Iran is currently heading the Presidency of the Organization of the Islamic Conference (OIC), he said.

I thank the Iranian officials for providing this opportunity for the OIC members for coordinating their activities for the betterment of relations, he said. Iran's Representative in Jeddah-based OIC, Sabah Zangneh talking to the TEHRAN TIMES said that CCJIA meets once every year for the coordination of the activities of the OIC members. Zangneh said, The CCJIA in it annual meeting selects one or two vital issues related to the Islamic Ummah for discussion and coordination.

In Tehran's meeting two vital issues are on the table including economy and globalization of cultural affairs, Zangneh said. There are two ways before the Islamic Ummah in respect of the developed countries, he said and pointed out that either we should surrender to them or safeguard our own identity. He said, The developed countries have the most advanced technology for dissemination of information on cultural, social and political affairs.

What we need is to invest our resources collectively and pave the way for presentation of Islam in its true form before the world, he said. This is the reason that many Ulema, experts and research scholars have arrived to air their opinion on the issues and coordinate the policy of the Ummah, Zangneh said. Another important issue is the Muslim minority living in Non-Muslims countries, he said, adding that the possible way for the confrontation against possible wrong notions in the areas of Muslims' cultural areas will be explored by the experts.

Iran-Saudi relations are growing everyday in all possible areas of cooperation, Zangneh said. A strong will and exchange of visits by both sides can enhance bilateral ties, Zangneh said. He said, A high-level Saudi delegation of political and economic personalities headed by Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal is due to arrive here. I'm sure that the forthcoming visit of the Saudi officials will open the door of bilateral cooperation wider, Zangneh said.

At the end of Saudi delegation's visit, Iran and Saudi Arabia are to sign memorandum of understanding on political, cultural and economic cooperation, Zangneh told the TEHRAN TIMES.
