We Can Reach Final, Says Pasarella

BUENOS AIRES - Argentina coach Daniel Pasarella believes his side boast the quality to reach the World Cup final. Argentina meet South Africa in their final match before their departure for France, seeking to continue a run of impressive performances in recent weeks. But fellow World Cup finalists South Africa, in only their second match under coach Philippe Troussier, will continue their attempts to find a new strategy after a disappointing draw with Zambia in Johannesburg last week.

Twice world champions Argentina have scored six goals in their last two home matches and are also still riding high after an away win over Brazil in Rio De Janeiro last month. Pasarella has announced just one forced change to the team that beat Chile in Mendoza last week, replacing goalkeeper German Burgos, who is ill, with Pablo Cavallero. It leaves Gabriel Batistuta, who scored against Chile and managed a hat-trick against Bosnia earlier this month, still partnered by Claudio Lopez up front and experienced defender Jose Chamot again among the substitutes.

Pasarella said he believed he had found the right formula for the World Cup campaign and would use the match against South Africa to fine-tune his selection.
