32-kg Tumor Removed From Patient's Abdomen

KHORRAMABAD, Lorestan Province A 32-kg tumor was removed from the abdomen of a 54-year-old man in Kouhdasht, in this western province, Saturday. The patient, Allah Morad Rostamiyan, who weighed 65 kg before the operation, is reportedly in good condition and now weighs only 33 kg. According to the treating doctor, Mohammad Reza Akhoundi, the benign tumor is the first in its kind in terms of weight.

Dr. Akhoundi added that the operation lasted for seven hours because of the turmor's viscidity with blood vessels. No specific reason has been given for formation of the tumor. (IRNA)
