Palestinians Refuse Food in Israeli Jail Protest

BETHLEHEM, West Bank Ten Islamic freedom fighters being held in solitary confinement in an Israeli prison began a hunger strike Sunday to protest their jail conditions, supporters said. The protesters include Walid Akel, a member of the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement, or HAMAS, who has been held in isolation for three years, they said. (AFP)
