TEHRAN
-- A collection of photos displaying athletes in some zurkhanehs, traditional Iranian sports clubs, is on display in an exhibition at Tehran’s Arasbaran Cultural Center.

The collection is composed of 20 photos by Saeid Mahmudi, Nasser Mizbani, Seyyed Asghar Khodaii and Meysam Movahhedfard.

Pahlevani or Zurkhaneh sport is an Iranian martial art that combines elements of Islam, Gnosticism and ancient Persian beliefs. It was registered on the UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2010.

The exhibition has been organized by the Pahlevani and Zurkhaneh Sports Federation, and the Ferdowsi Foundation.

The exhibit will run until August 10 at the center located on Arasbaran St., in the Seyyed Khandan neighborhood.
