TEHRAN – Two Iranian institutions plan to honor filmmaker Asghar Farhadi and poet Mohammadreza Shafiei Kadkani during a ceremony in Tehran on September 21, which marks the International Day of Peace.
The ceremony has been organized by the Center for Peace and Environment and the Iranian Poets’ Society.
Farhadi and Shafiei Kadkani have played key roles in the field of peace during past few years, Iranian Poets’ Society Director Fatemeh Rakeii said during a press conference on Thursday.
Kadkani will be honored for his peaceful views toward society in his poetry, Rakeii mentioned.
In addition, she said that Farhadi will be honored for his acceptance speech that he gave after receiving the Oscar for the Best Foreign Language Film in March 2012.
Farhadi won the award for “A Separation”.
“I proudly offer this award to the people of my country, the people who respect all cultures and civilizations,” he said in his acceptance speech.
Groups of veteran and young poets have been invited to the ceremony. They are scheduled to recite poems during the event, which will be held at the Iranian Poets’ Society located on Nemati Alley, off Dolat st, Shariati Ave.
