He will perform recitals at Tehran’s Vahdat Hall and Rudaki Hall on February 18 and 19.
Born in 1962 near Paris to parents from Catalonia region of northeastern Spain, Fons was introduced to music at the age of five, taking up piano and classical guitar.
As a young man, he studied double bass at the Paris Conservatory of Music, performing in its orchestras and refining his knowledge of music theory and performance.
He added a fifth string to his bass, enabling possibilities well beyond the idea of the double bass as an accompanying instrument and particularly the option to be one of an ensemble’s improvising voices.
The 28th Fajr International Music Festival will be held in Tehran from February 13 to 19.
