TEHRAN -- Groups of Iranian nomads symbolically staged their migration on Tehran’s on Vali-e Asr Street on Friday.

Nomads from Qom, Fars, Kermanshah, Semnan, Ardebil, Golestan, and several other provinces attended the carnival, who began traveling from Vanak Square to the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds, which is currently hosting a nomadic festival.

The nomads performed music, dance and acrobatic moves at a carnival organized by the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO).

CHTHO Director Mohammad-Sharif Malekzadeh met some of the nomads in the carnival and asked them about their problems for attending the event.

They offered Tehran citizens who were watching the carnival along the street some of their special foods. The nomads also brought flocks of sheep, camels and horses along with them.

Tehran’s sanitation workers had a hard job of cleaning animal excrements off the street.

The nomad festival will run until February 7 at the Tehran Permanent International Fairgrounds. Traditional dance, music performances and many exhibitions of nomadic handicrafts have been arranged for the event.
