TEHRAN -- Iranian artist Alireza Khaqani will display a collection of his silicon statues of Iranian luminaries in an exhibition scheduled to open at the Iranian Artists Forum (IAF) on June 25.

Khaqani, who has long worked on making silicon prostheses, said that he has found silicon to be a material which can be made to have a texture similar to the human skin.

“The material is much more durable when compared to wax,” Khaqani said in a press release published by IAF on Saturday.

“The idea came to me when I visited the wax museum of Madame Tussauds in Amsterdam and found using wax for sculptures make them more fragile”, he added.

The exhibit will be running until July 3 at the IAF located on Musavi St., off Taleqani Ave.
