TEHRAN – Iranian author and critic Mohammadreza Gudarzi will be attending a review session of José Saramago’s famous novel “Blindness” on June 18.

The review session will take place in the Qalamestan Literary Creation Center in Isfahan, director of the center Ahmad Mortazavi said in a press release on Monday.

Today marks the third anniversary of the death of Saramago (1922-2010), the Portuguese writer and recipient of the 1998 Nobel Prize in Literature.

“Blindness” was originally published in Portuguese and then translated into English. It is one of Saramago’s most famous novels along with “The Gospel According to Jesus Christ” and “Baltasar and Blimunda”.

A magnificent parable of loss and disorientation, and a vivid evocation of the horrors of the twentieth century, “Blindness” has swept the reading public with its powerful portrayal of man’s worst appetites and weaknesses as well as man’s ultimately exhilarating spirit, according to the description by Amazon on its website.
