| Annual commemoration of Imam Khomeini registered on National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage |

TEHRAN -- The commemoration ceremony for the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini, the Founder of the Islamic Republic, has been registered on the National List of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The decision to add the ceremony to the list was announced on Thursday during a meeting at Imam Khomeini’s residence in the northern Tehran neighborhood of Jamaran, Persian news media outlets announced.
“The registration of the commemoration ceremony will help his memory live on in Iran and the world,” the director of the Institute for the Compilation and Publication of Imam Khomeini's Works said at the meeting.
“According Iranian cultural heritage experts, the commemoration ceremony for the death anniversary of Imam Khomeini is unique and has been held for 24 years in an exemplary and magnificent way,” Hojjatoleslam Mohammad-Ali Ansari added.
Imam Khomeini guided the spirit of the revolution from 1979 to 1989. He died on June 4, 1989.
Imam Khomeini’s office in Jamaran and the Jamaran Hosseinieh, where he held his public meetings, have previously been registered on the National Cultural Heritage List.
In addition, his residences in the city of Qom and the town of Khomein have been inscribed on the list over the past few years.
