| Iranian cartoon website organizes competition to commemorate victims of Iran Air Flight 655 |

TEHRAN – Organizers of Roozcartoon, an Iranian cartoon press portal, have arranged a competition with the central theme of the USS Vincennes attack on an Iranian airliner on July 3, 1988.
Entitled “290 Medals for Captain Rogers”, the name of the competition is intended to remind people of the number of victims of the tragic incident, organizers have announced on the Roozcartoon website.
Iran Air Flight 655 (IR655) was shot down by the Vincennes, which was under the command of Captain Will Rogers, on the Bandar Abbas-Dubai route, resulting in the loss of 290 lives of innocent civilians including 66 children.
The competition has been organized to once again remember this bitter but important part of Iran’s history to help the world hear the voice of the innocent women and children of Iran Air Flight 655, reads part of the call for the competition.
Interested applicants are asked to submit their works to the secretariat of the competition before July 11, and winners will be announced on July 15.
