TEHRAN -- Iranian director Danesh Eqbashavi’s “Taj Mahal” will go on screen at the Montreal World Film Festival, which will be held from August 22 to September 2.

The film, which is Eqbashavi’s directorial debut, will go on screen in the international competition section of the festival.

“Taj Mahal” is about a 60-year old man, who lives in the southern Iranian city of Abadan. He faces a problem, which forces him to take some actions that are against his beliefs and ethos.

Parviash Nazarieh, Abdoljabbar Eqbashavi, Ali Mardaneh and Tima Amiri starred in the film.

Eqbashavi worked as the assistant director in Mohammadreza Darvish’s acclaimed film “Duel” and Ebrahim Hatamikia’s “In the Color of Purple”.

The goal of the Montreal World Film Festival is to encourage cultural diversity and understanding between nations, and to promote meetings between cinema professionals from around the world.
