TEHRAN – The Divan of Hafez has been translated into Uzbek by the young Uzbek Iranologist Alam Jan Dovlatov and has been published in Cyrillic script in Uzbekistan.

The 640-page book has recently been published in a run of 1,000 copies by Tamaddon Publications, the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) announced on Wednesday.

The Divan of Hafez is one of the four top books most liked by the people of Uzbekistan, Dovlatov writes in the preface of the book.

Dovlatov also said that publication of Persian literature either in Persian or Cyrillic alphabets was impossible over the past few decades.

“However, after Uzbekistan’s independence in 1991, a new window was opened for the Persian language literature and,” he added.
