TEHRAN – Iranian translators are working on three books of the modern literature of the world, which are expected to be published in the country in the near future.

The books are English novelist and screenwriter Ian McEwan’s “Solar”, American children’s writer Shel Silverstein’s “Everything on It”, and Afghan-born American novelist Khaled Hosseini’s “And the Mountains Echoed”.

“Solar” is being translated by Shahriar Vaqfipur.

The book, which was published in 2010, is about a jaded Nobel-winning physicist whose dysfunctional personal life and cynical ambition see him pursuing a solar-energy based solution for climate change.

Razi Honarmandi and his wife Mehrnush Parsanejad are working on “Everything On it”, which was published in 2011.

The book is an amazing collection of never-before-published poems and drawings by Silverstein. Ofoq is scheduled to publish the Persian version.

“And the Mountains Echoed”, which has been published this year, is being rendered by Mehdi Qabraei and will be released by Salis Publications.
