TEHRAN -- The Japanese novel “Black Rain”, which is about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima, has been translated into Persian.

Qodratollah Zakeri has translated the book, which will be released by Gita Publications in the near future.

Written by the Japanese writer Masuji Ibuse (1898-1993), the novel is based on historical records of the devastation caused by the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

The book alternates between Shizuma Shigematsu’s journal entries and other characters from August 6–15, 1945, Hiroshima, and the present, several years later, when he and his wife become the guardians of their niece, Yasuko, and thus are obligated to find a suitable husband for her.

Director Shohei Imamura directed a film adaptation of the Japanese novel in 1989.
