| “Crime” on screen for Iranians in Toronto |

The theaters in Toronto will screen the film in Persian, but without English subtitles, the head of the international distributer of the film, Fimiliran Institute, told the Persian service of ISNA. The film’s story, which is set in the Iran of decades ago, is about a man who is trying to remain faithful to his beliefs while living through a dilemma. “This movie has a particular attitude towards men, family and life. It features a man who comes out of his shell and turns out to be a man of the world of today,” Kimiaii previously mentioned in a press conference. The seventy year old Kimiaii won the Fajr International Film Festival’s Crystal Simorgh for the Best Film for Crime in 2011. Kimiaii films have been screened in various editions of the festival over the past three decades. However, none of his films ever brought him a prize at the festival, which is Iran’s most important cinematic event. In a meeting, Masud Kimiaii regards his film “Crime” as the closest movie to his world. “The film reminds one of the truths, and I tried to recreate old Tehran inside the present-day Tehran. I have lived in every corner of this city. This is my city; I fell in love in this city, I made films here, I learned to drive here, I wrote books here and found friends here,” he said about the film. Jamshid Mashayekhi, Dariush Arjmand, Masud Raygan and Hamed Behdad star in the film.
