TEHRAN -- A large group of cineastes and musicians has warned Iranian people about environmental pollution.
In a letter published by the Persian service of IRNA on Saturday, fifty actors, directors, producer, musicians and cultural figures asked people to join them in the group, which plans to participate in anti-pollution movements.
“Public participation in the protection of the environment as well as in prevention of environmental disasters is extremely vital,” they wrote in the letter.
“We must not delay. Any hesitation in struggling against the environmental crisis may cause irreversible damage to our country,” they added.
They proposed that Iranians allocate the direct subsidies received from the government for pro-environmental movements.
Rakhshan Bani-Etemad, Kiumars Purahmad, Dariush Mehrjuii, Tahmineh Milani, Roya Teimurain, Manijeh Hekmat, Kamal Tabrizi, Farhad Fakhreddini, Homayun Shajarian, Ali Sartipi, Mostafa Rahmandust, Masud Rayegan and Pegah Ahangarni are among the figures that signed the letter.
Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani also put his signature on the letter.
