|“Ella Enchanted” appears in Persian||
The book, which tells the story of Ella, the unfortunate recipient of a foolish fairy’s gift of obedience, has been translated into Persian by Mahbubeh Najafkhani.
Not only in Iran but in many countries, fairy tales are warmly welcomed, since the less fortunate seek hope through these kinds of stories, Najafkhani told the Persian service of MNA on Friday.
Today many people in the world seek out fairly tales for their happy endings, she said, adding that they give hope to hopeless individuals who would like to see their sadness end someday.
The Persian version of “Ella Enchanted” has been published by the Afarinegan company.
Levine did a wonderful job of modernizing the Cinderella tale and making it more accessible for today’s readers, she said.
While set in a different land and different world altogether, the characters and their problems feel close to home and are easy to relate to.
The novel of “Ella Enchanted’ received a Newbery Honor in 1998.
