Iranian movies competing in Geneva festival

TEHRAN – Iranian movies “Pomegranates Are the Fruit of Paradise” and “Parviz” are competing at the 9th International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva, which is currently underway in several cities in Switzerland.
 
Directed by Teimur Qaderi, “Pomegranates Are the Fruit of Paradise” is about a little girl named Shadi who is being taught by her friend Saeid since her parents do not let her to go to school.
 
“Parviz”, directed by Majid Barzegar, is about a man named Parviz who is in his fifties and has lived his entire life in his father’s home and has never had a job. His quiet routine suddenly comes apart when his father decides to remarry and tells him to move out.
 
The festival is being held in several cities include Geneva, Versoix and Lausanne.
 
The International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva is supported by Geneva’s Department of Culture and Sports and several other significant organizations. It aims to promote cinema, cultural dialogue and diversity.
