|Afshin Hashemi takes “Old Songs”, “Interview” to Stanford University||
TEHRAN – The Iranian actor/director Afshin Hashemi has traveled to the U.S. to stage “Old Songs” and “Interview”, the plays written by director/dramatist Mohammad Rahmanian, at Stanford University.
Actress Atefeh Nuri also accompanies Hashemi in this trip.
They performed “Old Song” at the Annenberg Auditorium of the university on Friday evening.
“Old Songs” is composed of seven nostalgic stories, which are set in certain neighborhoods in Tehran. The Berkley-based Iranian musician Mohammad Talani also accompanied the group with his guitar and songs.
The group also performed the play at Boston’s Touch Gallery in November 2013.
In addition, Rahmanian staged “Old Songs” at the Shams Hall of the Economic Cooperation Organization’s Cultural Institute in September 2013.
The auditorium will also host the troupe for “Interview” today evening.
The play is about a man and woman who are hospitalized in an asylum after the Algerian War (1954-1962) and they review past memories while they are responding to questions posed by Algerian officials.
