Tehran center to host Polish film festival
TEHRAN – Tehran’s Niavaran Cultural Center will host a festival of Polish films from May 26 to 29.
“Man of Hope” by Andrzej Wajda, “Supermarket” by Maciej Zak, “Rondo” by Artur Kordas, “My Father’s Bike” by Piotr Trzaskalski and “Imagine” by Andrzej Jakimowski are scheduled to be screened during the festival.
The festival has been organized by Iran’s Visual Media Institute.
Iranian film festival kicks off in Moscow next week
TEHRAN -- Five Iranian movies will go on screen during a festival at Dom Kino (the House of Cinema) in Moscow from May 24 to 26.
The Iranian cultural attaché’s office in Moscow has organized the festival in collaboration with the Russian Union of Cineastes.
“Love at 40” by Alireza Raisian, “Punishment” by Hassan Fat’hi and three other films will be screened during the event.
University of Malaya to screen “Che”
TEHRAN -- The Iranian war drama “Che” directed by Ebrahim Hatamikia will be shown at the University of Malaya in Kuala Lumpur on May 24.
Iran’s cultural attaché’s office has organized the screening to commemorate the anniversary of the liberation of Khorramshahr, a southwestern Iranian city which was captured by Iraq in the early months of the 1980-1988 Iran-Iraq war.
“Che” depicts 48 hours of Iranian war veteran Mostafa Chamran’s life on August 16 and 17, 1979 when he was sent to command several military operations in the civil war in Iran’s Kordestan region.
