Born in 1952, Kamandi was keen on Kurdish folklore and began to compose poetry when he was only 16.

Compiling life stories of Iranian Kurdish figures and turning them into screenplays were among his other activities.
“Horse”, “Flight in the Cage”, “New Member of OPEC”, “Caravansary” and “First Lawyer” are among Kamandi’s other screenplays.
He has also written selections of poetry both in Kurdish and Persian.
