TEHRAN – A number of high-ranking Iranian officials attended Alireza Qorbani’s charity concert “The Dream of Flight” on Friday.
Iranian First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Ali Moradkhani and Tehran City Council Chairman Ahmad Masjed-Jamei watched Qorbani’s performance at Tehran’s Milad Tower.
Last week, vocalist Qorbani invited President Hassan Rouhani and the members of the cabinet to attend his concert, which was organized to raise funds for the Children’s Foundation, a charity organization which helps and supports students who are deprived of education.
“I have a musical career spanning about twenty years,” Qorabni, 42, told the officials during the concert.
“Hence, I am aware of the capacity of Persian music for further development,” he added.
“However, malicious attitudes toward music, especially in other Iranian cities, have retarded the development of Persian music. The existing problems must be resolved,” he added.
Over the past few months, many concerts have been cancelled in several Iranian cities under pressure from certain groups.
Qorbani will also give another performance on May 27 at Milad Tower.
