Tahmineh Milani to preside over Erbil filmfest jury

TEHRAN -- “Ceasefire” director Tahmineh Milani was selected as the president of the international jury of the 1st Erbil International Film Festival, which will be held in the capital of Iraq’s Kurdistan Regional Government from May 30 to June 3. 
Cineastes Reis Çelik from Turkey, Muna Wassef from Syria, Elham Shahin from Egypt, Hajar Zahawy from the UK, Shrin Jehani from Kurdistan and Radwan Shaheen from Egypt are members of the jury, the organizers have announced.
Fifty feature films, including David O. Russell’s “American Hustle” and Steve McQueen’s “12 Years a Slave” will compete in the festival.
Six Iranian films have also selected for the international section of the event. 
“Kalashnikov” directed by Saeid Soheili, “Dance of Dust” by Abolfazl Jalili, “No Where No Body” by Ebrahim Sheibani, “Wedlock” by Ruhollah Hejazi, “The Last Winter” by Salem Salavati, and “Snow on the Pines” by Payman Moadia are the Iranian films.
Twenty-seven short films from across the world will be screened in the event. Five Iranian films have been selected for this section.
The films are “Monologue” directed by Kaveh Qahraman, “Red Dream” by Shahriar Purseyyedian, “The Last Station” by Mostafa Soltani, “Must Black” by Baran Sarmand, “Empty Handed but Standing Strong” by Babak Nabizadeh, and “A Friend for My Friend” by Sarkaot Mohammadi.
