|International Quran Competition kicks off in Tehran today||
TEHRAN -- The 31st International Quran Competition will open today at the Summit Conference Hall in Tehran.
Quran reciters and memorizers from 75 countries will attend the contest, which will run until June 2.
A jury combined of 11 foreign and 16 Iranian Quran reciters and scholars will judge the competitors.
Sheikh Talal Mesmar from Lebanon, Sheikh Muhammad Basyouni-Ahmed Neinaa, Fadhlan Zainuddin from Indonesia and Mehmet Ali Sari from Turkey are some of the foreign members of the jury.
Among the Iranian members of the jury are Shahriar Parhizkra, Abolfazl Alami, Mohammad Abbasi and Hashem Roghani.
A seminar on Quranic research is scheduled to be held on the sidelines of the event.
