TEHRAN – The former director of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art, Abdolmajid Hosseini-Rad, died of heart failure at a Tehran hospital on Sunday morning.
“My father was suffering from a form of blood cancer,” Hosseini-Rad’s son, Ehsan, told the Persian service of ISNA.
“He seemed to be getting worse two days ago and had a brain hemorrhage. He underwent surgery, but cancer did not let the bleeding stop, and finally he passed away due to heart failure this morning,” he added.
He was an associate professor at the Visual Arts Faculty of the University of Tehran. He was an art graduate of the University of Rennes 2 in France.
Hosseini-Rad served as the director of the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art for over a year between 2005 and 2006.
He authored several books, including “The Panorama of the Contemporary Painting”, “From Baroque to Surrealism”, “Principles of Visual Arts” and “Book of Kamaleddin Behzad Commemoration”. He also wrote a short story collection entitled “Line and Shadows”.
He will be buried today in his hometown Behbahan.
