“Heart of a Dog” on stage at Tehran theater

TEHRAN – Tehran’s Iranshahr Theater Complex is currently hosting Iranian director Mohammad Yaqubi’s a troupe, which is performing “Heart of a Dog” based on a novel of the same title by Russian writer Mikhail Bulgakov.
Mehdi Ghabraei, who translated the novel into Persian, was invited to the premiere of the play, which took place on Tuesday evening.
Habib Rezaei, Navid Mohammadzadeh, Aida Keikhaei, Ava Shariri and Ashkan Jenabi are the members of the cast for the play.
The novel, which tells the story of a Moscow mongrel named Sharik, has also been dramatized by Yaqubi. 
“Heart of a Dog” is a biting satire written in 1925, when Communism appeared to be weakening in the Soviet Union. It is generally interpreted as an allegory of the Communist revolution.
