TEHRAN -- A proposal calling for Iran’s membership in the Union Internationale de la Marionnette (UNIMA) has recently been ratified by the cabinet. The proposal, which was initiated by the Iranian branch of UNIMA, would help increase Iran’s participation in relevant international organizations and events, the Public Relations Office of the Center for Dramatic Arts announced on Sunday. It seems that the approval should help toward further steps in promoting the art of puppetry inside the country, the report added. Making better use of the latest technologies and achievements in the world will be another advantage, the report said. The UNIMA is a Non-Governmental Organization affiliated with UNESCO bringing together people from around the world who contribute to the development of the art of puppetry with the objective of using this art form in the pursuit of human values such as peace and mutual understanding.
