TMCA displaying 50 years of Persian calligraphic paintings

TEHRAN - An exhibition reviewing half a century of Persian calligraphic paintings was inaugurated at the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art (TMCA) here on Saturday.
The exhibition is displaying a collection of over 120 artworks created by veterans and young artists, as was reported in a press release on Sunday.
The oldest work in the exhibit created in 1960’s belongs to veteran Mohammad Ehsaii, the report added.
Faramarz Pilaram, Nasrollah Afjeii, Hossein Zendehrudi, Jalil Rasuli, Sadeq Tabrizi and Taha Behbahani are some of the artists whose works have been put on show.
In addition, a collection of 40 calligraphic paintings with the central theme of the holy verses of the Quran created by master Jalil Rasuli all compiled in the book “Nurun ala Nur” (Light upon Light) was unveiled at the opening ceremony where he was also honored for his lifetime efforts.
Rasuli has made the collection over the past four years and this is the first time he has put it on display.
The exhibit will be running until September 11 at the museum located on North Kargar St.
