| Actor Bahrami leaving for Germany for further treatment |

TEHRAN -- The young Iranian stage actor Majid Bahrami, who is suffering from a type of blood cancer (T-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia), will be dispatched to Germany today to receive further treatment. Bahrami was playing in the play “Wonder of Creatures” by Reza Servati last year when he found out about his disease and the play has been halted since, the Persian service of ISNA reported on Tuesday. A group of artists arranged a photo expo of theater performances in July to help raise funds for Bahrami’s treatment at the Iranian Artists Forum. At the opening ceremony of the expo, Deputy Culture Minister for Artistic Affairs Hamid Shahabadi promised that the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and Tehran Municipality would be taking charge of the entire expense of dispatching the artist to a foreign country for treatment. Bahrami’s friends and fans are hoping the actor will receive the full support of the officials. Bahrami has acted in several plays. He has also played in the film “Farewell Baghdad”, Iran’s submission to the Academy Awards in 2010.
