altTEHRAN -- Iranian photographer Majid Saeidi has been selected as one the finalists at the International Photographer of the Year Award 2011.

This competition is organized annually by the Lucie Awards at Lincoln Center in New York.

Saeidi’s work entitled “Landmine Victims” has been selected in the category of “Professional, People Portrait”. It depicts victims of landmines and those afflicted with limb-related deformities that resulted from the war in Afghanistan.

The finalists are competing for the Photographer of the Year (professional) and the Discovery of the Year (emerging) titles, as well as that of Deeper Perspective Photographer of the Year.

The winners of these three awards will be announced at the annual Lucie Awards on October 24, 2011, at Jazz at Lincoln Center.

The finalists will be invited to attend the Lucie Awards in New York, where one photographer will be announced as the grand winner, earning the coveted Lucie Statue and a cash prize of $10,000 provided by AtEdge, a commercial photography institute.
