TEHRAN -- Musician Hamid Motabassem, vocalist Homayun Shajarian, and conductor Hooman Khalatbari are teaming up to perform concerts in the Netherlands entitled “Simorgh”, the name of a mythical bird in Iranian culture. The city of Heerlen will be hosting the concert on October 2, and the next destination will be The Hague on October 8, the Public Relations Office of the Simorgh project reported on Monday. Simorgh is a multidimensional performance and its previous performances in Iran were warmly welcomed, however the positive point is that young conductor Khalatbari is accompanying the team this time, the report added. Khalatbari, the opera conductor in Graz, Austria, has performed as a conductor, soloist, and coordinator in several concerts across Europe and the United States. His most recent performances were as a guest conductor in London, Paris and Vancouver. Moreover, several programs on Persian art, culture and literature are arranged on the side section. An exhibition of Iranian musical instruments used by the Simorgh ensemble will open on September 29 for five days and will be accompanied by a workshop. Music expert Shams Anvari will be giving a lecture on Persian poetry in the Persian and German languages on September 30. A speech on the structure of instruments by expert Aisan Maqsudi is expected on October 1, while the acclaimed film (“Where is the Friend’s House?” by Abbas Kiarostami is also scheduled to go on screen on the same day.
