“Nader and Simin” continues winning streak at Durban filmfest

altTEHRAN - The Iranian smash hit “Nader and Simin: A Seperation” has won two top awards at the 32nd Durban International Film Festival as it continues its winning streak.

Lauded as a “masterpiece” with “astonishing performances from the ensemble cast” by the jury of the Durban International Film Festival, the film won the Best Feature Film Award and Best Screenplay Award at the event.

The festival, which runs from July 22 to August 31, announced the winners during a ceremony on July 31.

The awards are the fourth and fifth prizes that “Nader and Simin”, a family drama a marital breakdown set against a backdrop of social and family turmoil, has won during July 2011.

The Pula Film Festival in Croatia selected “Nader and Simin” as the Best Film and Armenia’s Golden Apricot and St. Petersburg International Film Festival Kinoforum awarded the film won a grand prix.

In February, “Nader and Simin” won the Golden Bear for best film at the Berlin film festival and its cast ensemble received best actor and actress Silver Bears.

The international awards and superb reviews the film has received present the opportunity for “Nader and Simin” to be a well-received hit in box offices in different countries.

The film is currently being shown in Belgium and Thailand. It will go on screen in the Netherlands from August 11 and Swiss theaters will screen the film from September 8.

The film premieres in Italy and Norway on December 25 and the Brazilian theaters will screen the film from January 6, 2012.
