Iranian galleries join Istanbul art fair

TEHRAN
-- The Contemporary Istanbul (CI) art fair opened on Thursday and has dedicated its New Horizons section to art in the Persian Gulf region.

Only three Iranian galleries are among the many galleries in the region that are participating in the event which is widely viewed as Turkey’s most prestigious contemporary art platform.

The Asar, Mohsen and Etemad Galleries have selected works by Samira Alikhanzadeh, Reza Lavasani, Babak Roshaninejad, Azadeh Razzaqdust, Ahmad Morshedlu, and Alireza Adambakan for the show that will be running until November 27.

In addition, CI organizers have picked artworks by Iranian artists Mohammad Ghazaali, Iman Afsarian and Mojtaba Tajik for the exhibit.

A total of 90 international galleries, 42 of which are from outside Turkey, have showcased works in various media including painting, sculpture, photography, installation, graphic design, video and new media art.

According to the Turkish media, over 60,000 people visited the exhibition last year.
