TEHRAN – The Iranian social drama “Skyless City” is scheduled to go on stage at the Intercultural Festival Laboratory of Theater Practices in Sabina, Italy.
Kiumars Moradi will direct the play, which will be performed during the opening ceremony of the festival on Friday.
“Skyless City” is about four women who try to find a way to emigrate from their countries in the Middle East, but they walk into a trap set by people trafficking in human organs.
The play, which was performed at the Chaharsu Hall of the Tehran’s City Theater Complex in 2010, was written by Puria Azarbaijani. Setareh Pesyani and Pantea Panahiha, Fatemeh Naqavi and Nazgol Naderian are the members of the cast.
Plays from Japan, India, Argentina and Italy will go on stage during the non-competitive festival, Moradi told the Persian service of ISNA.
Each director will hold two workshops; one on the art of theater in his or her country and the other on his or her directorial style and methods, Moradi added.
The festival, which was founded by the Italian troupe Theater Potlach, will run until July 10.
“Pounding Nails in the Floor with my Forehead” from Germany, “Ave Maria” by Odin Teatret from Denmark and “Between East and West” from India will also go on stage during the event.
