Iranian FM to visit Syria on Wednesday

c_330_235_16777215_0___images_stories_famous_02_sk1.jpgTEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi will visit Damascus for talks with Syrian officials on Wednesday, an informed source told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on Tuesday. 
 
Salehi visited Cairo on Monday to participate in a foreign ministerial meeting of a contact group on Syria comprising of Egypt, Iran, Turkey, and Saudi Arabia. 
 
“Ali Akbar Salehi… will visit Damascus tomorrow on his way back to Iran,” he said.
 
According to the report, Salehi will hold talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem. 
 
During Monday’s meeting, Salehi proposed that the four countries of Iran, Turkey, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia send observers to Syria to monitor a ceasefire between government troops and rebel groups.
