Petrochimi defeated Mahram 3-2 on aggregate in the best-of-five final.
In the fifth match held in Azadi Basketball Hall, Petrochimi brought an end to Mahram’s dominance in Iran basketball by beating the team 88-74.
Mahram had won the Iranian Basketball Super League five times since the 2007-08 season.
Samad Nikkhah Bahrami scored 27 points for Mahram to stand on top of the score sheet.
“We were the better team from the first match. To earn the championship was very difficult since Petrochimi was under pressure. I am satisfied with my players’ performances,” Petrochimi Bandar Imam coach Mehtran Hatami said in the post match news conference.
“I think our fans helped us to win the title. Hopefully, they support us in the upcoming years,” he added.
