The Iranian football team will meet Argentina in Group F of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, according to the draw, which was held in Bahia, Brazil on Friday.
Bosnia and Herzegovina and Nigeria are the other two teams in Group F.
Iran will play Nigeria on June 16 at the Arena da Baixada in Curitiba.
Coach Carlos Queiroz’s men will face powerhouse Argentina on June 21 at the Estadio Mineirao in Belo Horizonte.
Iran will meet debutants Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Arena Fonte Nova in Salvador on June 25.
The draw divided the 32 teams into the following eight groups of four teams each:
Group A: Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, and Cameroon
Group B: Spain, the Netherlands, Chile, and Australia
Group C: Colombia, Greece, Ivory Coast, and Japan
Group D: Uruguay, Costa Rica, England, and Italy
Group E: Switzerland, Ecuador, France, and Honduras
Group F: Argentina, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, and Nigeria
Group G: Germany, Portugal, Ghana, and the United States
Group H: Belgium, Algeria, Russia, and South Korea
Next summer's tournament kicks off on June 12 in Sao Paulo with host Brazil taking on Croatia in the opening game.
The group stage comes to an end on June 26, with the first games of the round of 16 to take place only two days later in Belo Horizonte and Rio de Janeiro.
The four quarterfinals will then be staged on July 4 and 5, while the semifinals take place on July 8 and 9, and the 2014 World Cup winner will be crowned on July 13 in Rio de Janeiro.
