TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is scheduled to pay a one-day visit to Turkey today to discuss bilateral and regional issues with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoglu.
The latest developments in Syria and Iraq and Iran’s nuclear deal with the six major powers are expected to be discussed during Zarif’s visit, a Turkish foreign ministry official told Today’s Zaman, Turkish Cihan daily reported on Thursday.
When asked if Turkey’s recent graft probe would be on the agenda of the visit, the Turkish official said that Zarif would not discuss the issue with Davutoglu.
Following a police operation on December 17, the sons of two Turkish ministers, state-run Halkbank General Manager Suleyman Aslan, and businessman Reza Zarrab were arrested along with 20 others.
Davutoglu had paid a visit to Tehran in November.
