TEHRAN – Mehdi Karroubi, who was put under house arrest two years after the 2009 presidential election, has been moved from detention at a location in Tehran to his home in the capital’s northern Jamaran area, his son said on Sunday.
“Last night, Mr. Mehdi Karroubi was moved to his home in the Jamaran area along with the security officers,” Mohammad Hossein Karroubi told ISNA.
“Preparations for the transfer had started about 10 days ago, and it was done last night,” he said, adding that his father is now living on the second floor and the security team is in a separate suite on the first floor.
“The security situation has not changed compared to the past,” Karroubi’s son explained.
Karroubi is accused of inciting massive street protests following the reelection of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who served as president from 2005-2013.
