TEHRAN – The Iran Volleyball Federation has reached an agreement with Andrea Anastasi to replace former coach Julio Velasco, who stepped down from the helm of the Iranian national men’s team in early February.
The officials have negotiated with some well-known coaches, namely current Poland coach Andrea Anastasi, former U.S. coach Hugh McCutcheon, Lorenzo Bernardi, and former Russia coach Vladimir Alekno.
Anastasi have been among the top candidates to take the job but he was under contract with Poland volleyball team. It looks like he has ended his contract with the European powerhouse team.
Under the tutelage of Anastasi, Poland has won the FIVB Volleyball World League in 2012. The team has also seized the bronze medal of the competitions in 2011.
