Abolfazl Rafiei said rubbish trucks make their daily rounds of collecting garbage in the streets of Tehran three times a day, a high cost on the municipality and a blow to the environment.
Rafiei made the remarks in a festival on ‘citizenship education’ in Tehran.
He outlined the objectives of the festival as follows: strengthening civic culture, promoting the culture of green space maintenance, improving lifestyles and consumption patterns, waste management, environmental awareness, etc.
There is still a huge difference between waste production in Iran and the more developed countries, so the encouragement of  people to cut down on their waste production and reducing the amount of waste they  generate ought to perk up their ears, because it makes a big difference to the environment.

Also recently First Vice President Es’haq Jahangiri said energy consumption in Iran is four times bigger than the global average.
