TEHRAN - The head of State Welfare Organization of Iran said on Thursday that based on the latest statistics 13,000 addicts who shook off their addiction have found their way to workforce with the helping hand of the organization.
Homayoon Hashemi told IRNA that 5 percent of the organization’s funds goes into supporting fully recovered addicts and their families and that the organization is after drawing up plans to make drug abuse treatment a ‘national plan’.
The organization, Hashemi said, has the most comprehensive program in preventing drug abuse and treating and rehabilitating abusers. It has also played a vital role in returning them to their families and society, he added.
“To overcome and fight off this social phenomenon (addiction), we must have a great determination,” Hashemi stated.
